EA Sports titles ‘not dependent’ on WMP

EA Sports PR chief David Tinson has stated that Tiger Woods ’10 and a new Tennis game will be “compatible, but not dependent, on Wii MotionPlus. They will ship with the functionality, regardless of when WMP comes to market.”  … he made these statements to MTV Multiplayer while addressing concerns over an uncertain release date for Wii MotionPlus.

Um… This is crappy news… but don’t you love the way it’s almost being spun as a positive?  I was excited about EA Sports and WMP but now I just smell “tacked on feature”… clearly the game mechanics are not built around MotionPlus if its functionality is merely an option.  UNLESS there is a “1:1 swing mode” which exists essentially as a second game on the Disc… I won’t hold my breath for that. Anyway I was really disappointed at this news; I hope they don’t totally screw this one up.
