Patches? PATCHES??

 killzone_2_spawn_protection

zomg, wtf, why did he throw a spawn THERE? what a noob. i mean, fuck.

dropcap_atari_another KZ2 patch will be released this Tuesday, version 1.28… details about the patch and the forthcoming DLC maps can be found here. And speaking of which I just started playing Killzone again- I’m going to get good, really good, at console-based FPS or die (repeatedly) trying.

So when I popped in the disc I was asked to update to version 1.27, which removed “spawn protection” for spawn-grenades, strengthened air support turrets (I finally have my air support ribbons) and greatly improved the game’s squad/match-making system.

On the spawn grenade tweak: I hated the change at first, and for a little bit, I bought into the rhetoric of the kids in the forums, screaming that the change turned Killzone into a camp-fest and ruined it forever and that they were going to sell their discs at Gamestop.

Then I noticed that the players on my friends list who routinely go 40-10 (the real beasts, the elite players) liked it just fine.

A guy I met in another forum (PSN ID: Darkfire and he’s undoubtedly shot you in the head with his SMG a few times if you’ve spent any time in the game) whose game I respect a lot, said this:

I really don’t mind the spawn points. Only if I’m playing with a lot of crappy tacticians that still think its smart to put them in or very close to the other teams spawn out in the open. It was dumb before not being able to kill those that spawn right by an objective.
