This PS3 exclusive has been on our radar for some time but suddenly, passing interest has become full-blown infatuation. Below is Tom McShea’s Gamespot video review for Uncharted 2, which awarded it a head-turning score of 9.5. It arrives in stores October 13.
Keys to the VIP
In dishing out scores, critics are a bit heavy-handed with the 9s these days… but in the past decade only a handful of truly special games (and only eight other current-gen releases) have scored 9.5 or better at Gamespot.
Can you guess the games in the 9.5-and-up club? You probably can. But here they are:
- Grand Theft Auto 4
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
- Gears of War
- Braid
- Halo 3
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
And for objectivity, Metacritic‘s A-list:
- Xbox 360: Grand Theft Auto IV (2008) 98
Rockstar Games - Playstation 3: Grand Theft Auto IV (2008) 98
Rockstar Games - Wii: Super Mario Galaxy (2007) 97
Nintendo - Playstation 3: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009) 97
Sony Computer Entertainment - Xbox 360: BioShock (2007) 962K Games
- Wii: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, The (2006) 95
Nintendo - Playstation 3: LittleBigPlanet (2008) 95
Sony Computer Entertainment
Metacritic is our go-to place for game ratings; their metascores represent an average across a bunch of sites.
